Elizabeth City, the Pasquotank
County seat, is located in historic northeast North Carolina
midway on the East Coast. The area is known as a region of
firsts. The first Grand Assembly of the county was held in 1665.
The area is the birthplace of education with the site of the
first school in North Carolina which opened in 1709. The famous
Moth Boat was created here in 1929.
Teeming with history, flowing from
its waterways, the area’s temperate climate yields a diverse and
thriving economy. Recreational pursuits heighten the quality of
life recognized by the “Harbor of Hospitality.”
