Elizabeth City, the Pasquotank County seat, is located in historic northeast North Carolina midway on the East Coast. The area is known as a region of firsts. The first Grand Assembly of the county was held in 1665. The area is the birthplace of education with the site of the first school in North Carolina which opened in 1709. The famous Moth Boat was created here in 1929.

Teeming with history, flowing from its waterways, the area’s temperate climate yields a diverse and thriving economy. Recreational pursuits heighten the quality of life recognized by the “Harbor of Hospitality.”
