Established in 1995, Dine Out to Help Out was created in response to Food Bank of the Albemarle’s need to continue providing healthy, nutritious food to families facing food insecurity in northeast North Carolina. The first Dine Out to Help Out of the year, is always held the second Tuesday in June, and involves all counties within the food bank’s 15-county service area. The food bank and its partner agencies have been reaching out to area restaurants to encourage their engagement in this event. Each restaurant participating in Dine Out has agreed to donate 10% of their day’s proceeds to Food Bank of the Albemarle. For every $1 raised, the Food Bank can provide the equivalent of four meals to individuals and families who are faced with hunger!
